WHY BIOCARBON REGISTRY?

The Bio Carbon Registry (BCR) is established to provide a credible, transparent, and robust framework for certifying greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction and removal projects, with a focus on supporting climate action and sustainable development.

• Quality Assurance for Carbon Credits: BCR guarantees that Verified Carbon Credits (VCCs) reflect genuine, additional, quantifiable, and lasting reductions or removals of greenhouse gases. This assurance comes from strict certification and verification procedures, aligned with international standards such as ISO 14064-2 and ISO 14064-3.
• Support for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): BCR supports projects that address climate change while also generating social and environmental co-benefits, advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. These projects help enhance local community livelihoods and protect biodiversity, especially in vulnerable ecosystems like mountainous regions.
• Transparency and Integrity: The registry leverages blockchain technology to guarantee that data remains unalterable, traceable, and transparent. Every carbon credit is individually tracked, preventing double counting and upholding the integrity of reported emission reductions.
• Alignment with Global Climate Agreements: BCR helps countries and organizations fulfil their climate commitments-including Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement-by offering a reliable platform to register and monitor climate mitigation projects.
